Bruntwood Prize Take Part in #PlaywrightsFlashmob @ the Royal Exchange

On Tuesday 2nd July from 11am-2pm we are proud to be taking part in #PlaywrightsFlashmob at the Rivals Cafe in the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. This event will be held by host writers Afshan D’Souza-Lodhi, Andrew Sheridan, Chris Thorpe and Zodwa Nyoni, alongside RET Dramaturg Suzanne Bell and Literary Coordinator Rosie Thackeray.
Playwrights: come in, chat, write! Make connections, talk about what you’re working on – let’s cook up ideas for a better future. You can use the Royal Exchange’s free wifi, and enjoy a 20% discount on our delicious selection of hot drinks and cakes.
#PlaywrightsFlashmob has been conceived following the first #SupportPlaywrights event, organised by Anna Jordan and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, with the aim to encourage connections between writers, beat isolation and open up spaces – particularly theatre buildings.
This national event is taking place in person at theatres across the country. The list is growing, but so far involves: Theatre503, Royal Court Theatre, Kiln Theatre, Paines Plough, Tramshed, Sheffield Lyceum, Crucible Theatre, Leeds Playhouse, Royal Exchange Theatre, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse. A version of the event will also be held virtually on zoom – details to follow.
Thank you to every single artist who has contributed their honesty and care to these important conversations. Theatres, writers and artists who would like more info on how to get involved, please head to: https://supportplaywrightsproject.substack.com/p/playwrights-flashmob
