The Bruntwood Prize has found winners whose work has been produced all around the UK and the world, from the United States to Australia.

Following sell-out runs at the Royal Exchange, Manchester and the Royal Court, London YEN hits New York, previewing from 12 January 2017.

Anna Jordan (Playwright) won the 2013 Bruntwood Prize for her play YEN after having been twice longlisted for her plays Marianne and Chicken Shop. YEN premiered in February 2015 and transferred to the Royal Court in January 2016.

Now MCC Theater (New York) has announced that Justice Smith (The Get Down) will join Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel) in an updated version of the play directed by Trip Cullman. Smith and Hedges will play Bobbie and Hench, the two boys whose story of being home alone, watching porn, playing video games and being bored is the springboard for the drama of Yen.

The Guardian wrote about the Exchange production of the play: ‘Jordan’s play achieves the uncommon feat of being difficult to watch yet easy to love – anyone with a yen for consummately well-crafted drama should seek it out.’

The run of YEN at MCC has now been extended until March 4 2017.
