When We Died by Alexandra Donnachie is now available to watch now on the Edinburgh Fringe Player until 31st August
Director Andy Routeledge first encountered this extraordinary play by writer and performer Alexandra Donnachie whilst reading for the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting where it was longlisted in 2017. Earlier this year they created a bespoke filmed version of the show with Eight Engines at The Pleasance Theatre.
The show originally premiered at Vaults Festival in 2020 to a fantastic response:
“Donnachie is really terrific… It’s quietly hold-your-breath gripping” Lyn Gardner for Stagedoor
“It deftly navigates difficult topics with both sensitivity and exquisite detail – no mean feat given the subjects involved. The show is both written and performed by Alexandra Donnachie, and her performance is as excellent as her writing.” The Reviews Hub
“Every element of this show has clearly been carefully considered from an audiences’ perspective and the result is a really powerful, enjoyable and absorbing piece of theatre.” North West End
